Preschool & Elementary
"Train a child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not turn away."
Proverbs 22:6
The mission of Saint Paul's formation program is to introduce children to the scriptures, the liturgy, and music of the Episcopal Church.
The children of Saint Paul’s attend and participate in the Holy Eucharist with their parents, and then join their peers in their formation class. The formation classes use the developmentally appropriate and child friendly curriculum, "Living the Good News." This series is based upon the Scripture readings appointed for the day, otherwise know as the "lectionary." This format provides for family sharing, life-long learning, and community building as we live our baptismal vows.
The curriculum is designed to be active, hands-on learning with lectionary-based stories, songs, and projects. Arts and craft projects also connect to the lectionary and add meaning to the lesson as we aim to meet the various learning styles of the students.
Inter-generational programs are planned throughout the year to build community as each member of the congregation adds value and meaning to our unique life as Christians.
When our children are in the early elementary grades, they will receive age appropriate Communion Instruction-this time as a group. This will add to the personal Communion Instruction they received as a young child when they began their personal participation in Communion of the Blessed Sacrament.
As they continue to grow, they will receive Instruction again and again, to reinforce each previous lesson, and to reinforce their foundation of Christian living.
